For Advanced Beginner Makers*

Creativity and discipline need each other! The phrase “building intention” in a ceramics context can refer to your technical approach as well as the conceptual underpinnings of your work. This course is for folks who have taken a beginning wheel class and are seeking a space to deepen their practice.

This goals of this course for beginning wheel graduates are fivefold:

  1. consistently and efficiently throw a 6” cylinder out of 1.5 pounds of clay

  2. Center up to 3 pounds of clay

  3. Develop ability to throw and shape articulate forms

  4. How to make and execute a glazing plan

  5. How to generate personal and community critique in a safe and constructive way.

Students will also have full access to the studio during open hours for the duration of their 8 Week course (6am-12am All Days).

Shelf space and 25lbs of clay is provided to each student. Tools and other equipment are available at the studio for communal use.

* At least one prior wheel class reccomended
